What do we offer at FILS?
The Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages is one of the basic pillars of international visibility at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest.
FILS graduates will be prepared to work in an international-multicultural environment, both in the country and abroad, studies in foreign languages (English, French) being a fundamental component for the internationalization of Romanian higher education and its integration into global trends.
At FILS, the international mobility of students is encouraged, both for entire study periods and for semester or annual mobility, which is favored by the knowledge of technical language. Academic mobilities contribute essentially to the development of graduates’ ability to adapt and be efficient in multicultural work environments, to be easily adaptable and thus useful to employers who have an activity in which the international component is increasingly important.

Why Civil Engineering?
Civil engineering offers you the possibility of a successful career. You will work in a vital field for society, with a great diversity of activities, which continuously challenges you and which will always be interesting. It allows you to leave something to the world through projects that make life better and safer.
The profession of civil engineer is fundamental for the development of society, for addressing at least three key aspects, such as construction safety, life protection and property insurance.
Why Translation and Interpreting?
Because we want to offer undergraduate students something different, namely, deepening their knowledge of foreign languages and acquiring the skills of translators – interpreters specialized in the technical-scientific field, in which Civil Engineering plays an extremely important role.
What does it mean to be part of the FILS community?
The “Civil Engineering” bachelor’s degree programs in English or French are designed to train future civil engineers in the field of Civil Engineering (specialization – Civil Engineering).
Studying in English or French offers you increased employment opportunities in Romanian and multinational companies, both in the country and abroad. The more than 1500 FILS graduates work successfully all over the world, in the design, execution and management of constructions, in education and research.
At FILS, the international mobility of students is encouraged , both for entire study periods and for semester or annual mobility, which is favored by the knowledge of technical language. Academic mobilities contribute essentially to the development of graduates’ ability to adapt and be effective in multicultural work environments.
FILS is interested in improving students’ learning performance. In this regard, the Center for Career Counseling and Guidance (CCOC) offers services both in professional and personal development in the sense of preparing students for their future career, for contact with the professional environment, as well as placing graduates on the labor market. Within the Center, meetings are held with students to familiarize them with current learning techniques, time management, job search, writing a letter of intent, etc.
FILS periodically organizes work-shops and conferences with representatives of the labor market as guests in order to maintain the connection between students and partner companies. The representatives of the labor market support and actively participate in the development of practical and didactic activity in UTCB.
The Bucharest Construction Students’ Association (ASCB) is an important component of the academic activity. Students are actively involved in the smooth running of teaching activities, as well as in extracurricular activities.
