Information regarding the master thesis and graduation examination
Steps to be followed for the defense of the master thesis:
1. To verify graduation project originality, the graduate student will submit the master’s thesis in electronic format (pdf) to the department to which the advisor professor belongs. The student will send the master’s thesis in electronic format (pdf) to the department of the supervising professor at the following addresses:

The email sent should include the following information:
(a) Type of paper: master’s thesis;
(b) Title of the master’s thesis, according to the list approved by the FILS Council;
(c) Name and surname of the student;
(d) Name and surname of the supervisor;
(e) Name of the study program;
(f) Name of the organizing faculty of the study program.
2. Students must submit a formal application for the graduation examination to the FILS secretariat (FILS 07D E). The supervising professor must endorse this application, confirming that the master’s thesis is complete and eligible for defense in the scheduled session. All applications are subject to the approval of the FILS Dean’s Office.
3. The master’s thesis is submitted in printed form to the secretariat of the supervising professor’s department.
4. Attached to the master’s thesis, must provide a signed declaration attesting to the originality of their work (FILS 12 E).
5. The supervisor must prepare a detailed report on the content and quality of the master’s thesis and attach it to the graduation project/bachelor’s thesis submitted to the department (FILS-11-R-Referatul-conducătorului-stiințific-al-lucrării).
6. The department will append an originality evaluation form to the master’s thesis, certifying that the work satisfies the criteria for originality. The originality evaluation form must conclude that “the graduation project meets the originality conditions” (FILS 13 R Formular de evaluare a originalității lucrării)

*The departments receive the Originality Evaluation Form from the Supervisor and attach it to the master’s thesis.
Additional Information:
- The supervisor of the master’s thesis can be any professor from UTCB or a doctoral student, specializing in the field of the proposed topic.
- The advisor allocates the master’s thesis topic to the student, based on an application, by the end of the first semester of the academic year (FILS 10D E). The advisor approves the application for registration and is then sent to the FILS Secretariat, through the relevant department. In the application, the student specifies the topic of the graduation project and its position in the list of topics approved by the FILS Council. Applications are subject to the approval of the FILS Dean’s Office.
- Graduate students who have not passed the graduation exam but have applied for a topic in the previous academic year can keep the topic if they have submitted the application form for topic selection and advisor to the FILS secretariat during the previous academic year.
