Le fait que j’ai choisi la Faculté d’Ingénierie en langues étrangères m’a non seulement aidé professionnellement, mais aussi personnellement.
J’ai eu l’occasion d’apprendre avec des collègues de France, de Tunisie et du Maroc au cours de mes 6 années d’études, mais aussi de passer du temps libre ensemble, apprenant ainsi des choses plus intéressantes sur leurs pays d’origine.
Avec l’aide des enseignants, j’ai fait mon stage pratique en troisième année à Montpellier, dans l’agence immobilière Terres du Soleil, Montpellier. J’ai été très satisfaite des conditions que nous avons eues et que, tout au long de la période du stage pratique, j’ai eu le soutien de Monsieur Doyen Aldea, pour toute question liée au logement/transport ou à d’autres situations. Ce stage m’a permis de comprendre les étapes de construction dans un chantier en France, mais aussi l’amélioration de la langue française, avec un contact direct avec des collègues tous les jours.

L’ingénierie est une des plus anciennes professions du monde, c’est pourquoi le choix de la suivre a été vraiment très facile. Une carrière dans le domaine du génie civil te donne beaucoup des opportunités pour voyager, pour acquérir des connaissances dans des différents autres domaines, mais aussi des expériences professionnelles inédites.
Le fait que j’ai suivi les cours en français m’a donné la possibilité d’enrichir mes connaissances de la langue française et d’être en contact avec des différents milieux culturels. Un autre avantage a été le fait que j’ai eu la chance d’élaborer ma thèse de dissertation dans le cadre d’un laboratoire de recherche d’une prestigieuse université de France.
Je pense que l’expérience d’étudier un domaine technique dans une autre langue que celle natale est une expérience unique et donc je conseille tout le monde de faire ce choix.

Après six ans (4 ans de licence et 2 ans de master) je suis sûre que j’ai pris la bonne décision de suivre les classes à F.I.L.S. et en plus réalisés en français. Même si au debout il a été difficile à m’accommoder avec les nouveaux termes et au fait que les cours étaient enseignes en français, maintenant je ne peux pas m’imaginer les classes faites d’autre manière.
Bien que notre année ait été petit, en comparaison avec le département en roumain, je me suis senti bien dans mon collectif; on était tous amis et cela nous a aidé à travailler ensemble pour les projets ou à apprendre pour les examens et j’en suis sûre qu’on va se rencontrer chèrement au fil des ans. En étant un collectif petit, on a été proche avec les professeurs aussi, auxquels nous remercions pour avoir partagé avec nous leurs connaissances.
Même maintenant, après les six années d’études, des projets, des examens et présentations je ne regrette pas un seul instant mon décision de suivre les cours de la Faculté d’Ingénierie en Langues Etrangères!

When I graduated high school I choose to follow French language courses of Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB) without knowing extraordinary expectation from this choice I made. FILS French department gave me the opportunity to fulfill my professional profile through Erasmus-Socrates and AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) scholarship in countries like France and Belgium. After my graduation I had the opportunity to work together with my professors from UTCB within European project NEMISREF and at National Center for Seismic Risk Reduction, institution which implemented Japan International Cooperation Agencies project in Romania when I had a training program in Japan. After that I choose a position at BRGM (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières) in Orleans, France. I owe my success to my professional training acquired in faculty and also competence and devotion with which I was guided by my teachers.

Après mon baccalauréat Mathématiques Sciences physiques au Benin, j’ai voulu faire des études de génie civil. Mon père, ayant étudié le génie civil en Roumanie, m’a conseillé l’Université Technique de Constructions de Bucarest pour la qualité et le caractère pratique de la formation. Étudier dans la section francophone m’a permis d’apprendre les règles de constructions roumaines et européennes, mais aussi de me familiariser avec les spécificités françaises en matière de constructions. L’université dispose aussi de nombreux partenariats avec des universités étrangères. C’est ainsi qu’après mon Bachelor obtenu en 2009 (Bac+4), j’ai pu compléter ma formation par un master en mécanique des sols à l’École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées de Paris. Aujourd’hui je travaille comme ingénieur géotechnicien pour une société de conseil en ingénierie à Paris. J’ai beaucoup apprécié l’approche pédagogique de la formation en Roumanie, qui me permet aujourd’hui d’avoir une vision beaucoup plus pratique des problèmes. J’ai beaucoup aimé l’ambiance générale aussi bien à l’université qu’en dehors qu’en dehors.

Through my studies done at the English department of FILS, I was fortunate and I also had the chance to acquire knowledge from both the Romanian literature and especially from the foreign one. After graduation, I can say that I’ve left with a solid base of knowledge in many fields which has allowed me, after the completion of the 5 years of study, to follow a Masters in Civil Engineering and after that a PhD at UTCB. The years spent in college helped me to discover a passion that has since become even the topic of my PhD thesis.

FILS gives future engineers the opportunity to learn a range of theoretical concepts taught by professors having an extensive professional experience. The study in a foreign language allows the development of the technical vocabulary necessary when working with international partners. The professor – student relationship is friendly and the series with up to 50 students per year allow for an easy interaction with the teaching staff. I thank to those who took the initiative to establish FILS and to the teaching staff who has contributed to my professional training.

To be or not to be an engineer … that is the question. The most important thing when you’re in a position to make a decision is to have as much information about the options as available. In the case of high school graduates, the question is the following: “To be or not to be an engineer?” What does that entail, what should you expect? What would you do, specifically? I am referring not only to the college years, but especially to the years after graduation. After finishing the high school, I chose to attend FILS (in English). Besides the fact that the engineers will always be on demand, the idea of learning in English has attracted me, as well. I do not regret my choice. After graduation, I followed a Masters in Geotechnical Engineering and I worked two years at UTCB in the Department of Mechanics, Statics and Dynamics of Structures. This was followed by a job in an oil and gas international company, where I had the chance to work in Alabama and Princeton. I am currently working as an engineer in London in an Australian engineering company that has offices in several international places. This faculty offers graduates a broad perspective of being up to date with technological development, an easy access to articles and materials from international literature, an easy communication easily with people from different parts of the world and a fit in international labor market. These are some of the advantages of being a FILS graduate. I’d like to point out that those who still follow this path must however, be serious, because in general, technical faculties are not straightforward. There are not hard, if due attention is paid throughout the year. I wish good luck to all those who aspire to a career in building engineering.
